The “COMPOBALL” solution

The “COMPOBALL” solution

The FP7 project COMPOBALL develops an on-line wireless system called “SensoBall” for the measurement of temperature and moisture at various points in the composting material. The proposed solution consists of a set of independent sensor nodes.

The 3-year research project is funded by the European Commission and brings together 16 partners from 9 European countries. The aim is to bring affordable wireless composting-sensors to the European composting industry.

Composting

Composting

Composting is nature’s way of recycling organic waste into valuable fertiliser. It is a natural biological process in which microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi break down organic matter. Since approximately 45-55% of the waste stream is organic matter, composting plays a significant role in today’s waste treatment.
